Whistler Shoulder Season Dining Deals: Fall 2026

Dead season is the best time to eat in Whistler

Locals call it dead season. The bike park is closed, the lifts are not spinning yet, and the village gets quiet enough to hear the creek. Most visitors skip it. That is their loss, because this is the best time of year to eat in Whistler.

The restaurants that are packed and booked out all winter want you in the door, so they roll out prix fixe menus, happy hours, and deals you will not see again until spring. You can walk into places in October that you would need to book weeks ahead for in February. The chefs lean into fall too: squash, wild mushrooms, braises, and BC wine.

Here is where I would eat this shoulder season, starting with the best of the best.

Fine dining prix fixe deals

Il Caminetto

Village. Il Caminetto is turning 45 this year, and they are celebrating with a four-course prix fixe for $45. Wine pairings are another $45. It runs daily from 5 PM, and the menu changes every couple of weeks.

You pick one cicchetti, one antipasti, one secondi, and one dolce. Some dishes carry a small supplement, like the 30-month prosciutto crostini or the albacore tuna crudo. Even with a supplement or two, this is the best value fine dining meal in Whistler. Refined Italian, dim lighting, and still the best date spot in town. Book it. $$$$

Araxi

Village. Araxi is running a $45 four-course prix fixe, available daily, with the menu rotating every couple of weeks. Farm-to-table, a legendary oyster bar, and one of the biggest wine lists in town. Opens at 5 PM on weekdays and 4:30 PM on weekends.

Wild Blue

Village. Pacific Northwest menu and a really, really nice vibe in the room. Last fall they ran a four-course prix fixe for $39.

Sidecut Steakhouse

Four Seasons, Upper Village. Last fall it was four courses for $59, Sunday to Thursday. The priciest deal on this list, but a steakhouse dinner at that price is still a steal.

Mid-range prix fixe

Quattro

Village. Classic Whistler Italian. Last fall they did four courses for $44. If you cannot get into Il Caminetto, this is a solid plan B.

Braidwood Tavern

Nita Lake Lodge, Creekside. Three courses for $49, served daily 5:30 to 9:30 PM.

Happy hour and cheap eats

Pizza Antico

Village. Best happy hour value in the village. $5 pints and 50% off margherita pizzas from 3 to 5 PM.

HandleBar

Upper Village. Not a shoulder season deal, just the best pizza I have ever had in my life (sorry NYC). Grab a pint and a pie.

Sushi Village

Village. A Whistler institution, and much easier to get into this time of year. Order the secret menu "Nicole Roll" and a Sake Marg.

Portobello

Upper Village. The takeout chicken dinner for four is great value. Add ribs.

Dubh Linn Gate

Village. Quieter in the off season, but the Guinness still flows and there is still live music. My #1 après spot, any season.

How to eat well in the dead season

  • Go midweek. Sunday to Thursday is when the deals are deepest and the rooms are quietest.

  • Still book the good ones. Il Caminetto and Araxi fill up on Fridays and Saturdays, even in October.

  • Check before you go. Some restaurants close for a week or two in late October or November for renovations and staff holidays. Call ahead or check their Instagram.

  • Follow the restaurants on Instagram. Fall menus change every couple of weeks and new deals often drop with little notice.

  • Stay a few nights. Shoulder season is the cheapest time of year to book a vacation rental in Whistler, which leaves more room in the budget for that wine pairing.

Book a quiet Whistler fall getaway

Dead season is when Whistler feels most like a mountain town. Fewer crowds, better tables, lower rates. If you are planning a fall food trip, have a look at our Whistler vacation rentals and our Eat & Drink guide for the rest of my favourite spots.
